Great Britain's Bradley Wiggins has finally added the rainbow jersey to his collection of victories, with a strong win over defending champion Tony Martin (Germany) in the Elite men's individual time trial at the Road World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain, on Wednesday.  Tom Dumoulin (Netherlands) took the bronze medal.  Canada's lone entrant, Svein Tuft, finished 28th.

The 47.1 kilometre race was expected to be between Martin and Wiggins, and they were the fastest at every split, with Martin ahead by four seconds after 12.23 kilometres, but then falling behind Wiggins by nearly three seconds at the 23.2 kilometre time check, 9.6 seconds back at the 35.28 kilometre split and 26.23 seconds at the finish line.  The pair were the only riders to go under 57 minutes, with Wiggins averaging 50.083 kilometres per hour.

Svein Tuft, who anchored the Orica GreenEDGE team to a silver medal on Sunday in the team time trial, was 19th at the first split and fell further off the pace through the rest of the race.

Note:  We have an interview with Svein.
